Ann Babiarz, an investor, a coach and author of the book, ‘Up’, shares her Investing success tips.  Believe it or not it starts by creating a road map for your life. Life is a journey and when we go on a journey we need a plan. Ann explains why an investing strategy needs to be congruent with your life and values. I found this as you will see a most interesting discussion particularly the Harvard study.

Ann Babiarz and top personal development guru like Bob Proctor tell us we need to have a vision for our lives.  By doing so and writing our goals down, we are nearly guaranteed success.  Bob Proctor reported that a study of alumni, ten years out of Harvard University, revealed some very interesting information on goals.

It seems amazing that 83% had no goals. They had absolutely no targets they were working toward.  This would appear a bit like spinning your wheels. You don’t know where you are going so you spin and just go around in circles. 14% had specific goals. They didn’t write them down yet they were earning three times the income of the 83%. However, the most startling figures came from the group measuring a mere 3%.  This sector had specific goals, clearly written to read and review, and this sector was earning 10 times the income of the 83% who had no goals written or otherwise.

                         No Goals     1.

                     Specific Goal 2.

                    Written Goals 3.

Earning 3 x Income Group 1

Earning 10 x Income of Group 1

It’s a bit like my feather story. One day while on the farm and walking the dog I found a tail feather from a black cockatoo. I picked the feather up and took it home. Now I had walked in that paddock many times and never seen a feather. When I reflected on this I realised that we had lots of black cockatoos visit each year and roost in the trees near the house paddock. Surely there should be more feathers out there to find? So I decided I would go on a feather hunt just to get a handle on the situation. Once I started looking for feathers I found them. In fact, I now have a large vase full of these feathers. It made me realise that if you give yourself something to aim for you, will be successful.

If we give ourselves a target then we will reach it. Our minds are marvellous instruments. They are working for us but our minds need some direction. If you were told there was a way to guarantee that you could earn more than 10 times what you are currently earning, don’t you think you would give it a shot? To be a successful investor you have to do the same. Find the way to suit you, make it into a plan that suits you. It would make sense to do whatever you could to give yourself the best chance to succeed.

Ann Babiarz is a successful investor and believes for ultimate success you need to create our road map for your life.

Listen to the episode to find out how.

Until next time
