A glimpse of the past can prepare us to look forward to what's ahead. That is why I am focusing on reflections on life. I am reflecting on stories that have been covered with the guest's I have interviewed this year. The hope is to learn how to build a better future by taking a glimpse of the past.

Would it be ideal to know at any point in time in our life what our life would look like? What an advantage we would have if we knew the outcome of whatever choices we made. How often have we just ploughed ahead full steam with our lives without giving due consideration to the consequences of those decisions? I remember the 1998 movie, Sliding Doors, where a London woman’s love life and career both hinge, unknown to her, on whether or not she catches a train.  We see both scenarios played out on the screen.

In the building industry, they have building information modelling (BIM) software. The technology ties sophisticated architectural graphics to a database of critical information like constructions schedules and material costs. It allows architects to view the lifecycle of a structure through time.  It allows a glimpse of what a building would look like at any time point.

We don’t have this type of software for our lives. But we can learn from what others have experienced.  That is why I enjoy having guests on the Retire Well Retire Happy podcast show. I learn so much from what others have achieved and experienced.

Here is a snapshot of what my guests have achieved:

Living -

I truly admire those that have recognized that they want to change where they live and go out and make that happen. Some have formed a collaborative community of supportive friends, others have moved overseas for a variety of reasons with cost of living being one of them.

These guests have gone forth and put their own stamp on the world. I am in awe of people that have a passion that they have followed from a love of writing to creating plans both for their lives and their finances.

We are all living longer but with that comes the challenge of maintaining a healthy balance in our lives. We learn how others can help us find that balance in our lives so that we can Rock our Retirement.

Take a trip down memory lane and listen to Ann taking a glimpse of the past and learn how to build a better future.

Until next time
